To the Friends of Blue Hills: We would like to give you an update on the tremendous progress we have made in just a few short weeks since launching the Adopt-a-Shop campaign. When we put out the call for tax-deductible contributions for our academic and vocational programs, as well as for extracurricular groups and athletics, we never imagined that you would be so generous with your time and donations. Your kindness and eagerness to be part of this endeavor have been absolutely gratifying. Many organizations and individuals have stepped forward to assist Blue Hills. For example, Good Brothers Ford of Randolph, along with the Ford Motor Company, donated sophisticated, high-tech training equipment to our Auto Repair program valued at $100,000. We also want to thank Mr. Matt Diggin of Good Brothers, who is a Blue Hills graduate and loyal alumnus, for doing so much to make this wonderful donation possible. Two remarkable ladies who work at The Lantana in Randolph, Ms. Brenda Seekins and Ms. Diane Walsh-Williams, presented our Culinary Arts department with a $1,000 donation from their employer. They have also spent countless hours telling other professionals whom they know about Adopt-a-Shop, thus spurring more donations and generating publicity. We are deeply grateful for their continuing advocacy. There have also been dozens of contributions of money and equipment too numerous to list here. On behalf of everyone associated with Blue Hills, we say a hearty thank you to all those who have been so helpful. But this is only the beginning. Our needs remain substantial, and your involvement in Adopt-a-Shop is still very necessary. Perhaps you are asking yourself, Why should I contribute? The answer is clear. Blue Hills is an outstanding school that is confidently moving into the future. We’re truly excited about the superb academic and vocational training we offer our students. We are always striving to improve it in every way we can. By donating to Adopt-a-Shop, you can be a vital part of that ongoing effort. For example, starting in September 2004, for the first time we will offer a pre-engineering program to a select number of juniors who have demonstrated significant capability in math, science, and English. This program, based on curriculum developed by a nationwide organization called PROJECT LEAD THE WAY, is demanding, creative and designed to prepare them for fulfilling careers in engineering. Those who complete the requirements successfully will be awarded a certificate, and can use these classes for college credit. We hope that you will take a few moments to look at our Web site, www.adopt-a-shop. com, to learn more about this initiative. Thank you sincerely for your interest in Blue Hills Regional Technical School. Respectfully, Gary Titus (Class of ’75) and Ed “Butch” Tamulionis (Class of ’75) Co-Executive Directors of Adopt-a-Shop
